On the club water on the River Tawe in Swansea, South Wales, is an accessible disabled fishing platform accessed off Ferryboat Close in Llansamlet, following funding secured by Tawe Disabled Fishers.
It’s available for use by all Tawe Disabled Fishers (TDF) and PASAS members.
Having a disability, needing a wheelchair, mobility scooter etc shouldn’t limit our accessibility to angling on the River Tawe. Nor should having limited mobility and strength be the end of our fishing days for Trout, Salmon and Sewin on the Tawe in Swansea. This is an ideal spot to anyone who needs a good sturdy path to walk on and those who move their fishing tackle using a trolley.
Seeing that sales of Disabled Two Rod Course and Non-migratory Trout licences rose last year by 11.3% and that the Three Rod Course and Non-migratory Trout licence sales rose by a whopping 14.9% shows that the sport is very much thriving within the disabled community and facilities like this Accessible Disabled Angling pad accessed off the Enterprize Zone in Llansamlet are critical in keeping the therapeutic sport of Trout fishing open to those with disabilities.
It’s also available to try our water without an annual club membership by purchasing either a Day Ticket online at Fishing Passport or buying a Day Permit from HR Jones in Clydach High St – Tackle shop upstairs. Allowing Accessible Angling in South Wales on the River Tawe, known for its Trout and Salmon.
